Based on 10 years of using my database of horse racing speeds this will make modest money. Do the following during the 2013 Flat season... 1) Put £96 in a Betfair account 2) Follow my daily tips (about 250 over the season) 3) Each favourite, LAY it in the PLACE market to the sum of £12 4) Shld collect £300 at end of season. It may go wrong - see The Signal and the Noise by Nate Silver. Enjoy! (may miss days cos of holidays/illness/etc)

Sunday
- no favourite tips today - note Carry on Sydney yesterday was not a favourite so I shouldn't have tipped it - will get better at this as the season progresses

Bad results today
Well Carry on Sydney came into range at the very last seconds & I missed it as we had visitors
Good old Betfair went down & prevented me from getting a bet on Star Lahib, so my £96 is still intact.
All my past schemes have always started badly and this is no exception - we go to the next day

Withdrawals
Withdrawals can change the dynamics of a race so be sure to check at 2.00pm to see if the recommendations have changed
First bet of the season
Star Lahib in the 4.50 at Doncaster - if it remains at 3/1 or less
Possibly Carry on Sydney at Musselburgh if it goes to less than 3/1

Why start the flat season like this
What a hopeless organisation of the fixtures - we only bet on grass races, so no more tips to the end of the coming week - patience required for us

No Longer Valid 2.30
After key withdrawals, Model Pupil is no longer to be LAYed
No other LAYs in the racecard - rotten weather

Launch of a database-underpinned blog to see if I can reproduce the last four years in 2013. In this case we are trying to turn £96 (8x£12 bets) into £396 by doing what we half did in the previous 4 years. The pitfalls and successes will be described as we go along. Nate Silver would recognise that depending on the past for the future is a tricky thing, but I am confident. The first 2 or three bets may go wrong, cos those wicked betting Gods take pleasure in trying to make you lose confidence in any new betting strategy. Have faith!
